The piggies have been our most fun experiment yet!

We only raise a few weaners each year, so we sell them only as sides or a few parts direct from home or at the Market.   We raise them on organic feed and pasture, where they are gradually helping us to clear down the scotch broom that’s taken over the old sheep pastures.  They hang out in the old sheep barn, and in portable shade houses out in the pasture.

Pigs have so much character and are so personable, I think we are hooked on raising them.  Which means, I suppose, that we will have to build a new house for them when we get sheep eventually.

This year, we got 6 mixed heritage breed piggies from Sloping Hill Farm near Qualicum, and they are the cutest ever!
